Italy Probes Telecom Italia Over Antitrust Claims

Law360, New York (June 24, 2010, 6:36 PM EDT) -- Italy's antitrust watchdog has launched an investigation into claims that Telecom Italia SpA has hindered its rivals' access to the nation's telecommunications infrastructure and used predatory pricing in regions where unbundling has created more competition.

The Autorita Garante della Concorrenza e del Mercato decided to open the probe into the former state-owned telecommunications giant Wednesday based on complaints from competing service providers Wind SpA and Fastweb SpA that Telecom Italia had abused its dominant market position.
