3M Slaps Avery Dennison With Sheeting Patent Suit

Law360, New York (June 28, 2010, 3:57 PM EDT) -- 3M Co. has filed suit accusing Avery Dennison Corp. of infringing 13 patents covering retroreflective sheeting products used for traffic signs and alleging two of its rival's patents for the products are invalid.

St. Paul, Minn.-based 3M and wholly owned subsidiary 3M Innovative Properties Co. filed the suit Friday in the U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota.

Avery Dennison, which has previously tussled with 3M over patents, is introducing OmniCube T-11500 Prismatic, a retroreflective sheeting product that includes full corner cube elements, the suit...
