Vt. Regulators Put FairPoint Ch. 11 Exit In Jeopardy

Law360, New York (June 28, 2010, 6:49 PM EDT) -- Vermont utility regulators on Monday rejected bankrupt telecommunications provider FairPoint Communications Inc.'s bid to delay broadband deployments and avoid penalties for providing poor service to customers in the state, potentially stalling the company's exit from Chapter 11.

FairPoint — currently in bankruptcy proceedings in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York — is reviewing the decision, a company spokeswoman said, declining to comment further.

Charlotte, N.C.-based FairPoint had been working to reach agreements with utility regulators in Maine, Vermont and New Hampshire...
