EU Rejects Budvar Effort to Block "Bud" Mark For Entertainment Services

Law360 (July 19, 2004, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The European Union's Office for Harmonization in the Internal Market has rejected Czech brewer Budejovicky Budvar’s attempt to block Anheuser-Busch's registration for the trademark "Bud" for entertainment and related services, the U.S. brewer said.

If the decision is upheld on appeal, Anheuser-Busch will receive a European Union-wide registration for "Bud" for entertainment services that the brewer uses to market the beer brand, the company said in a statement.
