DVD Maker Accused Of Breaking Contract

Law360 (February 2, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- A licensing company for digital compression devices has targeted a California DVD player manufacturer in a lawsuit for allegedly breaking a patent portfolio license and owing millions of dollars in royalties.

MPEG LA LLC filed the suit Tuesday in the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado against Chino, Calif.-based Mintek Digital Inc. It also held that Mintek’s parent Jiangsu Digital Technology Co. Ltd. and Shinco Digital’s parent, Shinco Electronics Group Co. Ltd., both based in China, were responsible for Mintek’s negligence.
