EPA Pulls Clean Air Certificates For Chinese ATVs

Law360, New York (June 30, 2010, 7:08 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has withdrawn its approval of the import and sale of 200,000 Chinese gas-powered off-road motorcycles and all-terrain vehicles, saying it suspects the tailpipe emissions information provided to the agency was either incomplete or falsified.

The EPA had issued certificates in 2006 and 2007 to the U.S. affiliates of four of China's largest recreational vehicle manufacturers — Chongqing Hensim Group Co., Chongqing Longting Power Equipment Co., Zhejiang Peace Industry and Trade Co., and Zhejiang Chisheng Industry and Trading Co. — but now...
