Renesas Sues Samsung In Various Venues

Law360, New York (February 5, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- Japanese chip maker Renesas Technology Corp. has bombarded Korean rival Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. with legal actions over the last couple of weeks for allegedly infringing its memory patents.

The latest action came on Jan. 29, when Renesas asked the U.S. International Trade Commission to conduct an investigation into Samsung’s dynamic random access memory (DRAM) chips.

The ITC now has 30 days from the time of the filing to determine whether an investigation is needed. Though it cannot award money damages, it can issue an injunction...
