Insurer Must Defend Sunoco In 76 Liability Cases

Law360, New York (February 5, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- An appeals court has ruled that Illinois National Insurance Co. must defend Sunoco Inc. in 76 lawsuits filed against the petroleum seller claiming that it is liable for a hazardous additive used in its gasoline.

In its Jan. 31 decision, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit upheld the district court’s ruling regarding 76 of the suits at issue and reversed the court’s ruling regarding one of the suits at issue.
