AB InBev Wins $2.5B Merger Fight With Grupo Modelo

Law360, New York (July 12, 2010, 6:46 PM EDT) -- Grupo Modelo SAB de CV has lost an arbitration dispute in which the Mexican beer brewer sought $2.5 billion for claims that the merger of InBev NV and Anheuser-Busch Cos. Inc. violated an investment deal that gave Anheuser a 50 percent stake in Grupo Modelo.

A New York arbitration panel ruled that the beer giants' merger didn't violate the 1993 investment deal and awarded no damages to Grupo Modelo, Anheuser-Busch InBev NV said Monday.
