Commerce Defends Duties For Chinese Chemical Cos.

Law360, New York (July 12, 2010, 3:37 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Department of Commerce has responded to accusations that it cherry-picked data made by Chinese importers of a water treatment chemical, saying the agency's calculation of anti-dumping duties was appropriate and should be upheld by the court.

The U.S. government on Friday filed a response to comments made by Changzhou Wujin Fine Chemical Factory Co. Ltd. and Jiangsu Jianghai Chemical Group Co. Ltd. in the U.S. Court of International Trade, saying it was within Commerce's discretion to choose how to calculate the duties.
