ITC Opens 337 Probe Over Pipe, Cable Locators

Law360, New York (July 13, 2010, 12:40 PM EDT) -- The U.S. International Trade Commission has agreed to investigate allegedly infringing electronic devices used to detect buried pipes and cables following a complaint from Bristol, U.K.-based Radiodetection Ltd.

The ITC said Tuesday that its members had voted to open an inquiry into products imported into the U.S. by California-based Vivax-Metrotech Corp.; Germany's SebaKMT; and Leidi Utility Supply Ltd., a Chinese manufacturer.

The probe stems from Radiodetection's June 29 complaint that claims violations of Section 337 of the Tariff Act of 1930.
