1st Class Certified In Whirlpool Moldy Washer MDL

Law360, New York (July 14, 2010, 2:00 PM EDT) -- A federal judge has largely granted a class certification bid by tens of thousands of Ohio consumers who sued Whirlpool Corp. claiming their front-loading washers accumulate mold and give off unpleasant odors.

Judge James S. Gwin of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio certified a class of state residents who bought one of three brands of Whirlpool washing machines for personal use.
