Fidelity To Sell Databases Following FTC Probe

Law360, New York (July 19, 2010, 3:55 PM EDT) -- Fidelity National Financial Inc. has agreed to sell several insurance title databases it picked up when it acquired bankrupt LandAmerica Financial Group Inc.'s principal insurance title underwriters, in order to settle the Federal Trade Commission's charge that the deal was anti-competitive.

The FTC announced the proposed settlement Friday, noting that the commissioners had unanimously voted to approve the complaint and settlement order. The commission will decide whether to finalize the order after a public comment period concludes Aug. 16.
