Fla. Hospital System Hit With Meal Break Suit

Law360, New York (July 20, 2010, 12:30 PM EDT) -- A former nurse at Jackson Health System, which runs a flagship 1,500-bed hospital in Miami and other health care facilities in southern Florida, has filed a putative collective action saying the company failed to compensate its employees for work during unpaid meal breaks.

The lawsuit, filed Monday in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida, seeks to certify a nationwide class of employees under the Fair Labor Standards Act and a state class under Florida state law.
