Siemens, Others Sued Over Engineering Software IP

Law360, New York (July 22, 2010, 1:48 PM EDT) -- Siemens PLM Software Inc. and several other software development companies have been accused of making and selling design software that infringes a patent licensed by an Acacia Research Corp. subsidiary.

Acacia unit Kellstrom Integration Solutions LLC filed suit Tuesday in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas, claiming the defendants' engineering design programs infringed a patent titled “System for transferring assembly data and method therefore.”

The asserted patent, U.S. Patent Number 6,088,625, is exclusively licensed by Kellstrom, the suit contends.
