CFTC Begins Derivatives Rule-Writing Blitz

Law360, New York (July 21, 2010, 6:33 PM EDT) -- As financial regulatory reform legislation takes effect, the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission is hitting the ground running, issuing a call Wednesday for comments on the 30 topics it will address as it writes first-ever rules to regulate the $600 trillion over-the-counter derivatives market.

CFTC officials said they will be moving quickly to solicit input, draft and finalize numerous rules enshrining the derivatives title of the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act, which was signed into law by President Barack Obama on Wednesday....
