DOC Probes Whether Chinese Cos. Dodge Hanger Duties

Law360, New York (July 22, 2010, 12:01 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Department of Commerce is investigating whether Chinese producers of steel wire garment hangers are circumventing hefty anti-dumping duty margins by collaborating with Vietnamese exporters, following a request by Alabama-based M&B Metal Products Co. Inc.

The government will look into allegations that Vietnam-based Angang Clothes Rack Manufacture Co. and Quyky Yanglei International Co. Ltd. are simply adding paper capes to hangers that originate in China, according to a notice published by the U.S. International Trade Administration in the Federal Register.
