Siemens Unit Admits To Concealing Sham Deal

Law360 (February 8, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- A U.S. unit of Germany’s electrical engineering giant Siemens AG has admitted it obstructed justice in an attempt to conceal a bogus deal it made to win a lucrative hospital contract for radiology equipment.

Siemens Medical Solutions USA Inc., an information technology supplier for the health care industry, entered into a plea deal Thursday with federal prosecutors who claimed the unit and two executives engaged in a sham arrangement to gain a $49 million contract with the government of Cook County, which includes Chicago.
