Wireless Industry Fights SF Cell Phone Radiation Law

Law360, New York (July 23, 2010, 6:27 PM EDT) -- A trade group for the wireless industry sued the city of San Francisco on Friday in a bid to enjoin a law requiring retailers to disclose how much radiation is emitted by cell phones they sell, contending that the measure is preempted by federal regulations.

San Francisco's recently passed law conflicts with the Federal Communications Commission's safety standards and could mislead and confuse consumers, according to the suit filed by trade group CTIA-The Wireless Association in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California....
