Brooke Trustee Can Investigate 3rd Parties: Court

Law360, New York (July 27, 2010, 1:30 PM EDT) -- The trustee in charge of liquidating bankrupt insurance agency Brooke Corp. has won court permission to investigate several third parties, including Oppenheimer & Co. Inc., as part of his effort to identify causes of action Brooke's estates might have.

Judge Dale L. Somers of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Kansas ruled Monday that the trustee, Albert Riederer, could take discovery from Bank of Kansas City NA, Sandler O'Neill & Partners LP, Oppenheimer and Macquarie Holdings (USA) Inc.
