Converse To Offer Royalties In Settlement

Law360, New York (February 9, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- Shoe maker Converse Inc. has revealed details of its settlement with a group of university fraternities and sororities that accused the Nike Inc. subsidiary of trademark infringement.

Converse said on Friday the “unique and multipart” deal would pay royalties from future sales of its “Greenpak” line of shoes and offer internships to the historically black Greek groups.

The sorority and fraternity plaintiffs own trademarks and trade dresses, some of which include the founding year, colors and identification of the Greek groups, according to the complaint....
