Verizon Bests Clerks' $15M Underpayment Suit

Law360, New York (July 30, 2010, 6:16 PM EDT) -- A federal judge has pulled the plug on a putative class action alleging Verizon Communications Inc. owed general clerks $15 million for performing work that clerks in another state were paid more to do.

Judge Roger W. Titus dismissed the case Wednesday in the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland, awarding Verizon costs incurred in defending allegations it broke the law by failing to give general clerks in Maryland and Virginia the classification and pay grade so-called force clerks enjoyed in Pennsylvania.
