Guatemala Labor Practices Violate Trade Deal: USTR

Law360, New York (August 2, 2010, 4:42 PM EDT) -- U.S. Trade Representative Ron Kirk says he will file a case against Guatemala for labor rights violations in what would be the first-ever labor complaint the U.S. has brought against a trade partner.

The case, to be brought under the Dominican Republic-Central America-United States Free Trade Agreement, accuses the country's government of failing to enforce its labor law, Kirk announced Friday.
