Abbott Ordered To Pay $6M In Discrimination Suit

Law360, New York (February 13, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- A federal jury on Monday ordered drug maker Abbott Laboratories Inc. to pay $6 million to a former employee who sued the company for alleged age and disability discrimination after she was fired.

Plaintiff Carol Tomao, who suffers from Lupus, was awarded $300,000 in compensatory damages and $2,400 in punitive damages. On top of that, she was given $300,000 in compensatory damages and $3 million in punitive damages for her retaliation claim.
