Kerry Offers Clean Energy Bill In Lieu Of Cap-And-Trade

Law360, New York (August 9, 2010, 11:21 AM EDT) -- With cap-and-trade legislation in limbo, Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., has unveiled a much more limited bill that would provide tax incentives for clean energy manufacturing, renewable energy and conservation.

Kerry's Clean Energy Technology Leadership Act, announced Friday, would extend and modify tax incentives for new energy-efficient homes, nonbusiness energy property improvements and energy-efficient commercial buildings.

It would also provide incentives for natural-gas heavy vehicles, which emit fewer greenhouse gases than standard vehicles; extend the excise tax credit for biodiesel and renewable diesel through 2012; modify the...
