BP Puts $3B In Deepwater Horizon Fund, Taps Trustees

Law360, New York (August 9, 2010, 7:17 PM EDT) -- BP PLC said Monday it had paid $3 billion into a planned $20 billion escrow fund to compensate victims of the Deepwater Horizon disaster and named two lawyers to oversee the trust established to administer the account.

John S. Martin, a former judge in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, and Kent Syverud, dean of the Washington University School of Law in St. Louis, have been named trustees, the oil giant said in a statement.
