DOJ Goes For Kill Shot Against Drilling Ban Challenge

Law360, New York (August 11, 2010, 6:34 PM EDT) -- The federal judge who overturned the Obama administration's initial Gulf of Mexico drilling moratorium heard arguments Wednesday on the government's request to throw out a legal challenge to the ban on the grounds that a revised regulatory measure is already in place.

Judge Martin Feldman of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana heard arguments from both the U.S. and the plaintiffs, headlined by Hornbeck Offshore Services LLC, in his chambers and ordered post-hearing briefs due by Aug. 18.
