Employees Say AT&T Unit Won't Pay For Union Duties

Law360, New York (August 13, 2010, 2:19 PM EDT) -- AT&T subsidiary Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. has been hit with a collective action accusing it of failing to properly pay its employees for their time performing union duties.

The employees lodged their suit in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri on Thursday, claiming that Southwestern willfully refuses to count their time spent representing other employees in labor-management meetings as hours worked in violation of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
