Salsa Musicians Fail To Reignite Copyright Claims

Law360, New York (August 17, 2010, 6:10 PM EDT) -- A federal appeals court has refused to breathe new life into a copyright infringement suit brought by two salsa musicians who claimed that they rescinded recording contracts with Valsyn SA and Sonido Inc. in 2004 because of the defendants' failure to pay royalties.

A three-judge panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit on Friday affirmed a district court's decision to grant Valsyn and Sonido summary judgment on Richard Maldonado and Robert Cruz's claims.
