Swisscom Fined Over Termination Fees

Law360, New York (February 16, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- Making good on its threats, Switzerland's competition watchdog has slapped a hefty fine of 333 million Swiss francs ($270 million) on state-owned telecommunications group Swisscom for overcharging customers for mobile phone termination fees.

The Swiss Competition Commission, or Comco, said in a statement on Friday that it reached its decision to fine Swisscom on Feb. 5, and that the high amount of the fine was due to the severity of Swisscom’s violation.
