EU Probes Chinese Co. Over Bag Dumping Worries

Law360, New York (August 20, 2010, 4:59 PM EDT) -- The European Commission has launched an investigation into evidence that some Chinese plastic bag producers are circumventing the European Union's anti-dumping duties on the products by shipping their products through another company with a lower duty rate.

The EU watchdog said Friday it has evidence that the companies are getting around the 28.8 percent import duty by passing their products through China's Xiamen Xingxia Polymers Co. Ltd., which benefits from a lower 8.4 percent tax because it was a cooperating exporter during the anti-dumping evaluation....
