Brazil Probes Expeditors Over Antitrust Worries

Law360, New York (August 23, 2010, 1:27 PM EDT) -- Brazilian competition regulators have opened a probe into Expeditors International of Washington Inc. based on concerns that the Seattle-based freight forwarder and its local unit may have violated Brazil's antitrust law.

The company and its Brazilian subsidiary, Expeditors Internacional do Brasil Ltda., received an administrative proceeding from Brazil's Ministry of Justice, Expeditors said Friday.

The ministry's case alleges that Expeditors and one of its employees may have engaged in anti-competitive behavior, the company said.
