AstraZeneca UK Workers To Strike Over Pensions

Law360, New York (August 24, 2010, 5:14 PM EDT) -- British union GMB said Tuesday that workers at AstraZeneca PLC's second-largest site, in Macclesfield, England, will strike for three days in September to fight changes in U.K. employees' defined-benefit pension plan.

The decision to strike comes after AstraZeneca proposed "draconian" changes to its defined-benefit plans that would effectively eliminate pensions for the 2,500 workers at Macclesfield, according to GMB.
