EPA Settles With Tyson, MTA Over NY Mercury Site

Law360, New York (August 30, 2010, 2:23 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has brokered settlements with Tyson Foods Inc., the Metropolitan Transportation Authority-New York City Transit Authority and others related to cleanup costs at a former mercury reclamation site that contaminated surrounding areas with hazardous heavy metals.

The EPA said Monday in the Federal Register that it had reached two proposed administrative agreements under the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act related to the Superfund site, which is located in Albany County, N.Y.
