Tronox Says Enviro, Tort Deals Will Let It Exit Ch. 11

Law360, New York (August 30, 2010, 7:34 PM EDT) -- Tronox Inc. said Monday that it has reached agreements with key creditors to settle its legacy environmental and tort liabilities and that the accords should pave the way for the chemical company to emerge from bankruptcy by the end of the year.

Tronox said the deals, which include the establishment of a fund topping $300 million to pay for environmental claims lodged by the federal government, will modify its initial plan, filed in June in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York....
