J&J Unit Faces Suits Over Recalled Hip Implant

Law360, New York (August 31, 2010, 3:47 PM EDT) -- DePuy Orthopedics Inc. is facing several lawsuits from hip replacement patients after acknowledging that up to one in eight of its ASR XL Acetabular and ASR Hip Resurfacing systems may require a replacement surgery.

Ken Seeger and Brian Devine of Seeger Salvas LLP filed four lawsuits in the Superior Court of California on Monday alleging DePuy, a unit of Johnson & Johnson, was “fully aware” of the problems with the devices but failed to notify health care providers and patients.
