Anadarko, Others Escape Ark. Oil Rights Action

Law360, New York (September 2, 2010, 3:53 PM EDT) -- A federal judge has thrown out a proposed class action that accused Anadarko E&P Co. LP, XTO Energy Inc., Upland Industries Corp., Seeco Inc., Chesapeake Exploration LLC and various affiliates of improperly exploiting oil and gas resources on land in Arkansas without the necessary rights.

Judge William R. Wilson Jr. granted the defendants' joint motions for summary judgment in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Arkansas on Wednesday. He also denied as moot the plaintiffs' motion to remand the case to state court....
