FDA Opens Criminal Probe Of Iowa Egg Farms

Law360, New York (September 2, 2010, 3:03 PM EDT) -- Regulators have reportedly begun a criminal probe into two Iowa farms that recalled more than 550 million eggs after being linked to the largest salmonella outbreak in four decades.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration's Criminal Division and the U.S. Department of Justice are now involved in the widening investigation, FDA Commissioner Margaret Hamburg told the Wall Street Journal Wednesday.
