Home City, Class Get OK For $13.5M Deal In Ice MDL

Law360, New York (September 3, 2010, 1:56 PM EDT) -- A federal judge has preliminarily approved a contested $13.5 million settlement between The Home City Ice Co., one of three primary defendants in long-running packaged ice multidistrict litigation, and a class of direct purchaser plaintiffs accusing it of conspiring to fix prices.

The settlement is fair, grants no preferential treatment, falls within a reasonable range and was the product of aboveboard negotiations, Judge Paul D. Borman concluded in an order Thursday in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan.
