EU Opens Probe Into €150M SC Johnson-Sara Lee Deal

Law360, New York (September 8, 2010, 2:05 PM EDT) -- The European Union's antitrust division announced Wednesday it would open an investigation into SC Johnson's €150 million ($190 million) acquisition of Sara Lee Corp.'s household insecticide unit after six member countries raised concerns about the deal.

The national competition authorities of Belgium, Czech Republic, France, Greece, Italy and Spain asked the EU to examine the impact of the deal on their territories, according to a statement by the Brussels-based European Commission.
