Union Kept Workers In Dark About Dues: Board

Law360, New York (February 23, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- A state labor board has ruled against the United Farm Workers of America, finding that the union intentionally misinformed mushroom pickers about their right to withhold funds for the union's political activities.

The California Agricultural Labor Relations Board, which oversees labor disputes in the state’s fields, issued its Feb. 16 decision as the farm worker group’s membership steadily declines and as more anti-union activists join efforts to decrease organized labor’s influence across the U.S.
