Law360, New York (September 28, 2010, 11:34 AM EDT) -- On Aug. 6, 2010, global tobacco joined numerous other industries, including energy, pharmaceuticals and telecommunications, that have been the focus of Foreign Corrupt Practices Act prosecutions when the U.S. Department of Justice and the Securities Exchange Commission charged subsidiaries of Alliance One International Inc. (“Alliance One”) and the Universal Corporation (“Universal”) with violating various FCPA provisions.
