Fla. Cancer Center Settles False Claims Suit

Law360, New York (September 14, 2010, 6:01 PM EDT) -- A federal judge has approved a settlement between the federal government and a Florida physician-owned medical practice whose cancer unit is alleged to have fraudulently overcharged Medicare and Tricare by millions of dollars.

Judge Gregory A. Presnell of the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida on Monday signed off on the deal, which dismisses charges brought against Melbourne Internal Medicine Associates PA, the MIMA Cancer Center and MCC's former practice head Dr. Todd J. Scarbrough.
