YRC Agrees To Pay $10M To Settle Race Bias Claims

Law360, New York (September 15, 2010, 3:09 PM EDT) -- A magistrate judge has given a preliminary stamp of approval to a deal that would see trucking giant YRC Inc. shell out $10 million to settle claims that its black dockworkers and janitors were subject to multiple incidents of racial harassment and retaliation.

Magistrate Judge Susan E. Cox of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois preliminarily approved the five-year consent decree Tuesday, saying it was “fair, adequate and reasonable.”
