House OKs Bills Aimed At Expanding Buy American Act

Law360, New York (September 16, 2010, 3:29 PM EDT) -- The U.S. House of Representatives has passed two bills designed to require Congress and the Department of Homeland Security to buy goods and services made in America.

House speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., said Wednesday that the twin legislative efforts were part of an ongoing strategy to help create American jobs and expand the manufacturing sector in the U.S.

“In passing these bills, we reaffirm that when we make it in America, we create jobs, promote our competitiveness, and lead the world economy,” Pelosi said.
