Polo Group Cedes Color In Ralph Lauren Fragrance Spat

Law360, New York (September 17, 2010, 1:48 PM EDT) -- The entity that oversees polo in the United States has agreed not to use blue as a primary packaging color in a new line of fragrances, amid claims from L'Oreal USA Inc. — the exclusive licensee of Polo Ralph Lauren Corp.'s fragrances — that doing so would infringe trademarks and confuse consumers.

The United States Polo Association Inc. will never again use blue packaging, and will sell no fragrances at all pending a preliminary injunction motion set for hearing later in September as the sides squabble...
