Andrews Kurth Atty May Be Charged In Stanford Case

Law360, New York (September 22, 2010, 6:12 PM EDT) -- Prosecutors may charge a former U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission enforcer, now at Andrews Kurth LLP, who turned down several opportunities to bust Robert Allen Stanford before trying to take a job defending him, the SEC inspector general told a U.S. Senate committee Wednesday.

As director of enforcement at the agency's Fort Worth, Texas, bureau, Spencer Barasch, who now heads Andrews Kurth's corporate governance team, ignored staff pleas that he take action against Stanford then tried to become Stanford's defense counsel before SEC ethics staff stopped...
