Steelworkers Fire ERISA Suit At Caribbean Resorts

Law360 (February 28, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- The Steelworkers Pension Trust has filed a lawsuit against two Caribbean beach resorts, accusing them of failing to contribute to their employees’ retirement benefits since last October.

The steelworkers allege that Bluebeard’s Beach Club and Elysian Beach Resort, both in St. Thomas, owe over $1,700 in contributions to the retirement funds of 26 employees, according to the complaint, filed in U.S. District Court for Eastern Pennsylvania on Feb. 26.

The lawsuit names Cendant Corp., which used to own the two resorts, but was recently spun off...
