Convicted Securities Schemer Seeks New Trial

Law360, New York (September 20, 2010, 7:11 PM EDT) -- George Georgiou, who was convicted in February of securities fraud, has asked for a new trial, claiming that federal prosecutors violated his constitutional rights by improperly withholding key evidence in the case against him.

In a filing with the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania Monday, Georgiou's attorneys argue that the government withheld from the defense critical evidence, even after numerous detailed discovery requests were made.
