Geico Hit With Proposed Class Action

Law360, New York (February 28, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- Claims adjusters for Geico Insurance Inc. have hit the auto insurer with a proposed wage-and-hour class action.

The plaintiff, Mark Alessi, of New Jersey, claims he and other adjustors typically worked 14-hour shifts every day for Geico, but were paid for just over half of that.

Alessi, who was hired by the insurance company in January 2005, said the unmanageable case load caused him to suffer a nervous breakdown in July 2006.

The case was removed Tuesday from the Superior Court of New Jersey, Ocean County...
